The Great British Food Festival: a fantastic day out for the whole family

What is is?

Get involved in some some foody fun over the coming weekends with the Great British Food Festival. August Bank Holiday weekend, followed by two weekends in September will see over 100 local and artisan producers gather at various locations for a day packed with food, fun, music and activities.

Each festival day runs from 10am to 5pm and there is a great range of things to see and do. As well as all the delicious food stalls and samples you'll be able to try local ales and smooth wines, get involved in competitions, watch demos and cookery lessons by top TV chefs and enjoy live music too.

Where is it?

Dalemain Estate, Cumbria

Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August brings the festivities to the Dalemain Estate in the Lake District. The large estate consists of a magnificent Georgian mansion house set in the middle of stunning grounds with an extensive garden and there will be a number of craft and gift stalls to wander. Adult tickets cost £7.50 and children aged five and over cost £3.50. This will give you access to the estate gardens too, so you can really enjoy a wander.

Ragley Hall, Warwickshire

Ragley Hall in Warwickshire is hosting the Food Festival on the 12th and 13th September. Ragley Hall dates from the 17th century and during the festival weekend the State Rooms will be open for you to explore, as well as the Terrace Café. Entrance prices are £8.50 for Adults and £4.50 for children aged five and over. This will give you access to the beautiful park and gardens.

Arley Hall and Gardens, Cheshire

On the 19th and 20th September Arley Hall and Gardens is hosting the festival's final instalment in Cheshire. Adults cost £7.50 and children five and over £3.50. For this you have access to the festival, the hall, the gardens and play area too. Arley Hall was completed in the 19th century and the wonderful gardens have been created over the last 250 years, so it's a great setting to explore.

Cheshire is perhaps most famous for its cheese, but it is packed full of character and diversity with fantastic natural scenery to romp through. Plan a get-away in this beautiful county.
