It's a beautiful location. Longships cottage well presented with spacious rooms and everything you'd need for a wonderful holiday..
This is now our sixth lighthouse we have stayed at. As with all lighthouses it has a good sea views but please remember do not put the light out at night and with a lot happening out to sea. If you are of an older age it is a long way to the toilet at night which is the case in most lighthouse cottages. If you take a walk down to lizard point you should be able to see seals playing in water best at high tide. Try the jubilee dessert at the last cafe you will not be disappointed. The cottage is comfortable plenty of space victorian building with modern fitments in kitchen a good home from home on holiday.
The cottage enjoys a beautiful, iconic setting and is spacious enough for four people. There was a welcome package, which is always a nice touch, and the place was spotlessly clean. The only two negative points are: (1) the distance to the bathroom/toilet, particularly at night as both bedrooms are upstairs, and (2) the lack of WiFi. We stay almost exclusively in self-catering cottages and it is rare now not to have access to the Internet.
Superb location and having stayed at a number of other lighthouses with Rural Retreats Lingships lived up to expectations. However despite Wi-Fi not being available which was fine the TV was old and some of the kitchen equipment was looking tired and a very limited range particularly the saucepans trays and ovenware. The welcome hamper was much reduced and I know that having hosted my own property through rural retreats. The positives are the styling and quality of the accommodation. Point to note the loose section of gutter above the allocated parking space.
The Longships retreat was perfect in everyway possible. The location is clearly unique, the quality & cleanliness of the property was first class and I would highly recommend a stay there. Can't wait to return!
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Longships and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Lizard very soon.
Fantastic views, amazing building to spend our 30th wedding anniversary which made it a special place for our stay. Our rating of 4 star was based on the towls had some dubious stains on them and we had to put them through the washing machine twice, which for the amount we paid to stay, we were suprised they were in that condition. The other reason was the onsite caretaker who within 5 minutes of us arriving was moaning we hadn't bolted the entrance gate in exactly the way he liked it. We had shut the gate but left one of the floor spikes in the up position as we arrived at 10 minutes past 4 and assumed other guests would be soon arriving and as the gate was wet it would save their clothing getting wet when leaning over. But we still had a nice time and it was special for us.
Really happy with the accommodation and location. Relaxing, cosy and with fantastic sea views. The only negative was that the DVD player did not work, even though advertised as having one!
A unique holiday stay right on the coast path. Very clean and well equipped. The quirky layout was fine for a week but we couldn't live with it fulltime. These are listed buildings so no old wooden windows etc add to the charm but wouldn't like to be here in a storm. Joanne, the caretaker, does a fine job and the welcome hamper was generous.
Good cottage clean and tidy super view. Will return.
Everything was perfect, way better than expected. The cottage was furnished and set up really beautifully with everything we needed. The location, views, walks and sunsets were amazing. We wanted drama, storms, clouds and wind. That’s exactly what we got and the fog horn didn’t really disturb us that much.
Great place, highly recommend. Very clean and comfortable. Fabulous location, stunning walks/scenery and excellent cafes on the doorstep. Perfect place to experience Storm Ciaran! Only one critique - the noisy fan in the kitchen
Property was in a nice location however in need of some maintenance.
Booked for my Mum's 90th Birthday with our family and the cottage was absolutely amazing, lovely interior excellent facilities and brilliant heating with a beautiful view to top it off. I would thoroughly recommend it!
Lovely location. Well decorated. Comfortable bed and pillows. One kitchen window has damp problem below and needs attention For dishwasher it would be helpful to have more cutlery and crockery - only 5 forks
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location and the cottage. We will address your constructive feedback, thank you.
Fantastic location and lovely comfortable cottage
Lovely location. Difficulty contacting housekeeper; phoned four times, but eventually had to contact Rural Retreats office for assistance.
Lovely location and venue
Lovely New Year break with friends. Fascinating site by Lizard Lighthouse and short walk 0.4m to Lizard Town with cafe, bar, shops. Cottage good size, comfortable and clean. Sharing 1 bath/toilet not ideal but public toilets a 2 minute walk away.
