Beautiful house in gorgeous location
A beautiful property with gorgeous views and direct, private access to Lake Ullswater. A lovely first floor terrace for sunny days and even a separate Snug on the second floor where children can play and watch their own tv programmes.
We’ve stayed at New Lodge for 3 years running and each year it’s been amazing. I can’t thank Mark enough for ensuring everything is just perfect on our arrival. Great place to enjoy some quality family time. We just love it and we hope you all do too.
It was a stunning house in the most idyllic spot. However the house is now showing some signs of wear and tear. One small point is the welcome pack was not as advertised at all (none of us had taken sugar as it was supposed to have been there). Whereas when we stayed before it was a much better welcome pack.
Outstanding house facilities and location
The House is lovely, well stocked and the view is amazing.. the beds are great and furniture is nice.. however, the heating did not work, even after we call out the house keeper… the gutters are full of plants, that caused water to come into the main bathroom, something that has clearly happen before.. there was a piece of window flashing that had come adrift that vibrated in the wind all night.. clearly Rural Retreats are not checking this property and the house keeper needs to fix the outside issues for the owner..
Great family house which suited all ages. We had spectacular weather which enabled us to use the garden too. A few issues in the house which didn’t mar our holiday that will be addressed to Rural Retreats directly
As the home was wonderful clean and comfortable and views magnificent hamper fabulous only downside was fumes from oil central heating but that can not be helped altogether wonderful
The property was amazing, very spacious, fantastic views and well equipped with everything we needed. The location was also perfect for exploring the lake district. We had an unforgettable time here despite the stormy weather!
Fantastic property. Amazing location and private. Facilities were great although Kitchen could have had some more of the basic culinary tools. All the beds and linens were lovely and clean and comfortable. General clean however seemed to be cursory under sofas and worktops. Hood for cooker was caked in dust as an example. Responsiveness on a couple of minor issues from the manager was excellent.
Such a beautiful house in a beautiful location. The bedrooms were very large and super comfortable, and the open plan kitchen and communal area were perfect for our large family cooking, relaxing and having fun, there were 8 of us and we never felt on top of each at all. The games room downstairs was a bonus, and we had great fun playing table tennis and darts. The grounds of the property were as beautiful as the house, nice and secluded. Although we didn't use the BBQ there is a nice patio at the front of the house. Everyone enjoyed walking down to Ullswater lake and taking in the stunning views (in rain and sun!) and we all felt this was one of the main highlights of the property. You can also take a stroll on to the grounds of the nearby Leeming House Hotel. We will definitely be visiting again!
Stunning views, beautiful well equipped property
The house is marvellous with beautiful views, just right for a family short break. Everything you could want, lovely furnishings, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and all extremely clean. Unfortunately the housekeeper could not be contacted and didn’t reply to my messages prior to arriving. There was no welcome pack and Elizabeth, in customer services, could not contact the housekeeper either. She did infact arrange a very substantial welcome pack which was delivered Wednesday evening. Disappointing it wasn’t there when we arrived Monday but thank you Elizabeth!
The lodge was utterly stunning, the amenities within the house were great and the location even more so! The private jetty is truly a next level feature to the home, as is the lovely outside areas. Everything was perfect for us, we’d come back in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for this stay.
Such a beautiful place. Stunning location and beautiful property. Lots of windows to capture the views. Loved the large garden with your own jetty. Honestly a dream. The only slight issue we had was the number of flies that made their way in but they had provided fly spray which worked well.
Fabulous location next to the lake with private jetty and wonderful views. The house was perfect for our needs. Would definitely like to return.
Fabulous place, let down by small details
Lovely house with a stunning view
Great location, great views, great house that just needs a few touches extra to make it 5 stars. Great base to explore the lakes.
Excellent location and beautiful house. Plenty of room for the six of us and well-equipped. Loved sitting looking at the view and watching the sheep and birds. Only gave 4 stars as we had the electricity fuse and water leaking through the ceiling from the bathroom upstairs. Housekeeper was not very good at getting back to us before we arrived or during our stay. She didn't appear to be interested. Had to ring Rural Retreats to get sorted who were very good. Painters turned up unexpectedly at 8 on the day we were leaving to paint the outside of the house. It would have been good to be informed.
Thank you for your lovely feedback for New Lodge. The view is indeed wonderful and the house very well equipped. I am so sorry that the housekeeper gave you the impression that she was not interested and I can assure you that this was not the case. I am not quite sure what happened on your last morning as the painters were certainly not expected on the Saturday and for this many apologies.
