Wonderful remote location and presented recently painted inside and very clean throughout. One part used loo roll for a cottage for five was a surprise arriving late. As was the 10 or so plastic sachets of milk. Off to the shops the next day. The wind howled and the doors rattled and we loved every moment. Where safer in a storm? We were warm and cosy tucked up inside. Very happy. Being experienced lighthouse stayers.....they do desperately need painting outside. Such a shame.
Beautiful situation and well appointed cottage.
Beautiful cottage with a great location! However few little niggles….. 1. The cottage sleeps 5 (which is how many our party was), but only 5 mugs were provided 2. The listing states that toilet paper is included, however we were provided with 2 rolls for 4 days for 5 people 🤔 3. Lovely to chill out in the evening after a day exploring the dramatic walks and scenery, but the 2 sofas are extremely uncomfortable! We had a tussle for the armchair which was a dream but the rest of us ended up sitting on the floor , propped up with cushions! 4. The listing also confirmed cooking facilities but there were no baking trays so we had to improvise , using tin foil in the oven. 5. Hidden cutlery drawer…it took us ages to find it! Please put the label “cutlery drawer “ further down as it’s obscured by the work top
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback for Siren. We are looking into the niggles that you have reported - the sofas are just over two years old and whilst we have not had any other adverse comments at all in that time they will certainly be reviewed. We provide a starter quantity of toilet paper and I am sorry that you were misled on this. The baking trays are in the boiler cupboard and we will look into the cutlery drawer label.
We have just had the most amazing holiday staying at the lighthouse keepers cottage. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and amazing views. The welcome pack was a lovely treat and the cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The drive to the cottage was a bit tricky as there aren’t many places to pull in to over take on coming cars.
We are delighted that you had an amazing stay at Siren and thank you so much for putting your thoughts down in a review.
The cottage is in a wonderful location and is a well appointed property apart from one important matter. The double beds are in a terrible state, all looks good until night time, the mattresses sag and creak loudly because the original central support has been replaced by one lower and the slats going across are unsuitable, weak plywood and consequently bent out of shape. It's such a shame as everything else was perfect.
Lovely location. Nice and windy. Cottage nicely done Just lacked a few bits to make it five stars (like dvd player). Efficient service overall.
Very comfortable cottage with modern kitchen and bathroom, together with smart bedrooms and good quality bed linen. Superb location on Southwest Coast Path.
Great location and holiday but couple of key things weren't quite up to spec - mattresses were old and uncomfortable and wi-fi router was also old and unreliable, it had to be turned off-and-on several times a day! - which means a 4* review overall.
Thank you for leaving a review for Siren. All our lighthouse properties are on a scheduled refurbishment plan and items are replaced on a regular basis but we are, of course, going to investigate these issues following your feedback.
Wonderful location. Amazing views. Really good for getting away from it all but good wifi if you do need it!
Awesome location and beautiful spacious cottage. Rural Retreats were very responsive when we had a problem with the electrics. I have only deducted a star because there was pretty much no Wi-fi at all - which is not that surprising given the location but it is advertised as having it.
Fantastic location and well fitted cottage
Absolutely perfect location! Beautiful cottage which was very comfortable. Great welcome pack left.
Beautiful location, beautiful accommodation and even beautiful weather! We had a wonderful week at Bull Point. Just a few improvements could be considered - the bin and the area at the rear of the property requires attention; the outdoor furniture requires attention; a clothes horse would be a useful addition; the welcome hamper was fairly underwhelming and not up to the usual Rural Retreats standard.
Thank you for your lovely comments about Siren. We have passed on your suggestions for improvements.
Fabulous location. Nice and clean, and has everything you need. Be prepared to do some reversing as it's a long single track to the lighthouse :-)
The accommodation is lovely - clean, comfortable and decorated to a high standard. Everything is well maintained and the cottage is well equipped, there were even a few board games for the kids. The location is truly spectacular! Stunning views, sunsets and walks on your doorstep, with the pretty village of Mortehoe and the expansive Woolacoombe beach a short drive away. We also appreciated the welcome hamper which contained high quality items. A minor negative was the check in time of 4pm which we felt was a little late. Another thing to be aware of is that the access road to the lighthouse is an extremely narrow 1 mile long single track with only 1 passing place - it was a slightly hair raising drive and we dreaded meeting an oncoming vehicle (luckily we didn't). Having said that, this is a very special place and we were sad to leave - highly recommend!
Wonderful place and perfect service!
