Very hospitable hosts and comfortable yet unusual and stylish holiday let farm building conversion. Close to several good beaches in both Dorset and Devon . We found the surroundings and views glorious in an idyllic setting. The children appreciated the grand space to play on grass ,and the png-pong table in teh barn.
A lovely property with a large enclosed garden for the dogs and a wonderfully quiet valley. Owners lovely and welcoming. For those who want immediate dog walks from the front door it's not perfect, but the near torrential rain and resultant over filled river in the valley may have impacted on us there. Those wanting: a pub you can easily walk to: having an aversion to a bathroom within the bedroom; or hating single track roads need to adjust your expectations pre arrival, but that is all made clear in the description. Overall excellent and a lovely holiday, but depending on what you want. For us perfect.
I have given 5 stars as the house was very clean, very well equipped and garden large and perfect for our Labrador to charge around in happily. The only niggle I have is why is the microwave sited under the sink. It is not easy to use when you are dealing with hot food and scrabbling around on the floor. There are plenty of surfaces in the kitchen where it could have been put for usage. I'm sorry to have brought this up as everything else was just perfect. A lot of thought had gone into equipping the house. We totally appreciate that dogs should not go upstairs nor sit on furniture and our dog was very happy on his bed in the kitchen.
A very remote beautiful location The accommodation was spacious well equipped and maintained to a very high standard The main bedroom has an en suite behind the bed which is open plan so if you go to the loo in the night or early morning not only are you 2 feet from the bed but you have to l crouch under a beam to get there The best welcome pack I’ve ever had - very thoughtful A great enclosed garden with fresh apples every day from the orchard Not too many places to walk with dogs as there are a lot of fields with livestock but the local beaches are fantastic with Hive beach worth a visit
We booked The Manger because of the location and the view - and both were perfect. We really enjoyed our stay, in part due to sunshine every day, but also the welcoming owners (and thank you for the delicious cake). The house was warm but a shame that a log burner isn't possible, due to the thatch I imagine.
The Manger is a lovely property in a very quiet and beautiful location. The garden is particularly nice - very large and enclosed with great views across the valley. Our dogs loved it. The house is spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable, but as it is very old is a little bit dark inside - not that it matters much when you can sit out on the decking and enjoy the view. The owners are very helpful without being intrusive. Axminster is close by and it is a short drive to the Jurassic Coast once you have got through the (blessedly short) winding narrow roads that lead up to the property. We enjoyed walking from the front door into the surrounding countryside and cycling down to Seaton, Beer and Branscombe.
This was an absolute gem of a find, couldn’t have any more rural. A stunning location, you have to actually be there to appreciate the view and the grounds to the Manger. The host is extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Even got a webcam footage of a badger. The house is gorgeous! Extremely well converted with lots of original features from the stable. Extremely clean and everything you need is provided. We were so sad to have to leave!
Lovely helpful owners and Manger in a lovely rural setting. Narrow lanes and high hedges made driving a bit stressful but the large garden was very relaxing and ideal for the dog. Barn conversion was very interesting and well equipped. The welcome hamper was full of treats.
Fantastic stay. Lovely cottage, beautiful location, super hosts.
A lovely house, everything you could possibly want for a relaxing holiday. Everything was clean and and full of anything you would have in your own home. Lovely beds and bedding, A lovely welcoming hamper as well. Can’t wait to revisit.
Lovely week in beautiful surroundings Accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. Getting to help with the cider pressing was an added bonus!
All excellent, especially the welcome hamper. Comfy warm and dry while raining every day.
Beautiful location, clean, nicely furnished and well equipped, and very characterful. Head-height beam in 1 bedroom not ideal in the middle of the night! But would happily return.
Lovely place, perfect preparation, fast communication, very nice contact!!!
We had wonderful relaxing stay. The property is gorgeous with amazing views over rolling hills. We did some lovely walks along the river Yarty and nearby coastal routes - perfect for walking off tall the goodies in the welcome hamper!
Very well appointed and with great views. Pity about the lanes but I suppose its to be expected in Devon. The immediate surroundings were also well cared for and a bird spotters paradise, not that I'm one.
The Manger is in a wonderful and tranquil location. The property is rustic yet luxurious and modern, and is equipped with everything one might need, including wifi and entertainment. The kitchen is superbly equipped and the welcome hamper was amazing. This is definitely a place to relax in and to explore the surrounding countryside.
A beautifully presented property in an idyllic situation. We really appreciated the little touches like the welcome basket and felt perfectly relaxed after only a few short days there.
