Fantastic location and beautiful cottage
Superb location, with the many bays of the Kent Rivera on the doorstep , plus the charming town of Broadstairs around 20 minutes walk away along the esplanade, the cottage is lovely and clean with superb views of Joss Bay , the lady who looks after the cottage is extremely helpful and caring, an altogether lovely holiday destination and a great experience
Well-equipped. Elegant and comfortable furnishings. Warm Would have welcomed a more user-friendly keypad on gate rather than the rather awkward padlock!
Lovely cottage, very well maintained, outstanding area.
5 stars for the truly exclusive location and to be recommended 3 stars for the level of quality of furnishings and appliances 3 stars for the level of cleanliness of the kitchen area, bathroom First experience with Rural Retreats. Having stayed so far in cottages managed by the National Trust and The Duchy Of Cornwall I expected Rural Retreats to ensure the same level of attention to details especially for such a unique cottage. It wasn't :-(
Thank you for leaving your comments about Khina Cottage. We are sorry that you were disappointed in aspects of your stay and we have passed this on to the owners and housekeeper.
We had a really lovely stay at Khina Cottage: it felt quite magical to be staying next to the lighthouse and to return to it after walks along the coast. Thanks for a lovely experience!
Clean, well-appointed cottage with a very efficient and helpful housekeeper. Not huge, but perfect for two adults and two young children. Quiet and peaceful, but close to many facilities in the growing towns of Ramsgate and Broadstairs and 5-minute walk away to a lovely sandy beach at Joss Bay. Great being able to see the sea from the bedrooms and kitchen. The only negative was the slow and limited internet (as noted in advance by Rural Retreats), which was surprising, given that you are not especially remote. Fine if you want to get away from it all and your kids still play with Lego!
Beautiful cottage - very well equipped
Lovely accommodation, spotlessly clean, but would benefit from en- suite facilities.. could do with repainting the bathroom wall, which was badly peeling. Not a good look so early in the season
Very good experience in a really beautiful cottage and location. Very minor issue toilet seat broken More of an issue was the Very strong door closer to the kitchen and the poor door fitting. Some doors did not close properly.
Having stayed at the cottage twice before I found it still well equipped and comfortable. We found this area of Kent going downhill with mass building of houses, mass roadworks and closures, and gridlock roads., which totally ruined the holiday. I know this is out of your hands, but I thought it aught to be mentioned. In future i will look further West in Kent which hasn't been spoilt by the roads to the continent.
How could staying in a beautifully decorated lighthouse keeper’s cottage, next to a working lighthouse near several dramatic beaches be anything other than a five/star experience. We had a wonderful time.
Had a lovely few days at this delightful well equipped cottage. Everything immaculately clean. Our dog loved the garden too!!
Beautiful cottage, very well furnished, decorated and equipped. Top marks to Louise the housekeeper, the whole place was spotless.
The property was beautifully presented inside and out. Our children loved the novelty of staying in a working lighthouse, and our dog enjoyed the freedom of the large, enclosed garden. Khina Cottage is within easy reach of plenty of interesting towns and attractions, and Broadstairs was really charming. An extra star for Louise, who went out of her way to show kindness when we left behind an item of sentimental value (thanks, Louise!).
A very enjoyable stay, we have stayed here before, albeit some years ago. I did not give it 5 stars as I thought there were some cleaning and maintenance issues about the property. The cottage was well equipped especially the kitchen. On first sight the cottage was clean, however it needed a thorough deep clean - in particular the carpets were very stained (especially the stair carpet) and the skirting boards and the windowsills had not been cleaned for a long time. One night it rained and knowing a window was open upstairs I went to close it. A little rain had come in, so I wiped the rain drops up, the cloth I used to dry was very dirty after wiping the window ledge and sill. Also there did not appear to be any bins for recycling. As a general point the welcome hampers seemed to have been reduced from what I remember from previous visits to RR cottages over many years. Bread, butter, flowers, eggs for example do not appear to be included any more - nice little touches that set RR apart from other companies.
Thank you for your review. The housekeeper at Khina always receives plaudits for the cleanliness of the cottage and the carpets have now all been replaced and other refurbishment has been undertaken. All rubbish goes into the bins provided and and the recycling is then sorted at site.
Great location but we found the staircase a bit too steep for us which made it difficult as the toilet is downstairs at night
Along with Lodesman, they provide an ideal place for families. All beaches in walking distance. Grounds truly secure for kids to Ram and play. Facilities excellent.
Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean.
I have already mentioned a couple of small issues to Rural Retreats which would have made this review a 5 star one. Otherwise we had a great time in a lovely area
