Beautiful secluded cottage with a lovely garden in picturesque surroundings. Spotlessly clean and deceptively big. Had everything we needed. Would recommend 100%.
We had a lovely Christmas break at Tufton Cross. A beautiful cottage which was cosy and comfortable. Excellent walks right on the doorstep and a well equipped kitchen.
Lovely cottage, very comfortable
lovely cottage with enclosed garden so perfect for the hound. Lovely walks on your doorstep. The welcome hamper was very generous. Beds were comfy too! A lovely peaceful spot
We have been visiting this property over the last 6 years and it is always clean and welcoming. The secluded situation is great for relaxing and yet great walks and scenery are only moments away.
Lovely cottage , very comfortable. Lots to see in the area.
Fourth time staying at Tufton so it must be good excellent for our dog.
Excellent location. Comfortable and clean. Ecouraging welcome food and drink. Liked the large scale map that was very useful for short walks from the cottage. On the downside:- 1. The folder of equipment instructions was not where the property folder indicated it should be- ie in the desk drawer. Did not find it until the second day. That was after had needed it it several times! 2. Needed instructions for the hob - fine when eventually found them. 3. Needed instructions for the WiFi - fine when eventually found them. 4. Needed instructions for the TV remote - these were not available - managed to sort the input problem out with the help of the internet. 5. Needed instructions for the oven - these were inadequate. 6. About halfway through the holiday the boiler cut out. The instructions helped reasonably well. Had to remove a lot of cleaning equipment from the top of the boiler to remove the top to get at the reset button. 7. The smoke alarm is close to the cooking area. Had to have the extractor fan on above the hob when using the toaster to stop the smoke alarm from going off, even though there was not visible smoke and the toast had not burnt. 8. It would be a good idea to insert a note about how to operate the back door. This was tricky, but probably straightforward when you know how. Sorted it more by chance than logic. Very much hope these comments will be forwarded to the owner of Tuftton Croft.
Thank you very much for your review which has been forwarded to the owner.
Fabulous stay at luxurious, comfy and spotless cottage. Thanks to the housekeeper. Felt very spoiled by a lovely hamper and toiletries. Brilliant location in a tranquil setting. Even though located in a village it felt secluded. Beautiful garden.. evenings spent watching the bats. Can’t wait to stay again.
Always enjoy staying at Tufton Croft, the location is so peaceful and ideal to unwind. But also the property is always well prepared to receive visitors, from the cleanliness to the welcome pack to the complimentary toiletries, it just makes it easy to relax and get on with the holiday.
The cottage was very well appointed and clean, with welcome pack of food and wine, which was much appreciated. The location was good for getting to places of interest. Access straight from the garden into a field by footpath with good walks . Really peaceful and quiet. Excellent shop in the village within walking distance. The large garden was a little tired but that may have been due to the spell of dry weather. All in all very enjoyable.
Everything from booking to the cottage was excellent.
Lovely cottage, very clean & comfortable and in a peaceful location. Loved all the birdsong too. Only quibble is with what seems to be RR policy of having to strip bedding ourselves on leaving - hotels, B&Bs etc dont require this, seems an unwanted leftover from covid times....
Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry that you were asked to strip the bedding. This is certainly not Rural Retreat's policy and I will ask the owner/housekeeper to remove any notices to this effect.
Nice cottage and great garden and location for dogs. Perhaps could have been made a bit more homely and the mud by the parking area was a problem. We were continually worried about treading in mud but could do little to avoid it. The host was very helpful and we had to call on her a couple of times! Particularly when we stupidly locked our selves out!!
Overall Tufton Croft is a pretty Cottage, however there were a few niggles, the lane up to the property was although narrow, very muddy and slippery due to the adverse weather cant be helped i know, the sofa in the living room is absolutly horrendous, to the point i ended up with lower back pain and resorted to sitting on a pillow, the bedroom window at the front is in desperate need of replacing , its draughty and full of condensation, actually makes the room smell musty, and the main fan oven broke, lovely welcome hamper and very warm and cosy, gardner chap was very nice ,
Very comfortable and well-equipped cottage in good location
We picked the location as it’s close to my sister’s, we picked the cottage as it’s single story to suit my mum. All went very well, it’s a lovely cottage, it was spotless and it’s in a nice although very quiet location
Really clean and a lovely quiet location with a footpath next door walking across fields, woods and orchards. Comfortable beds and well equipped. A few small things - the kitchen knives need sharpening and there is no knife sharper. The hedge had grown so tall and straggly that you couldn't see the view across fields other reviewers mentioned in the past. That would have been a big plus.
Tufton Lodge is in a secluded and delightful location, down a somewhat bumpy track, on the edge of the village, with walks from the door, and with a pleasant and quite large garden. It is within easy reach of Rye, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, Tenderden, Smallhythe and Camber Sands. The information on the website is accurate. We found the wifi good enough for streaming. We would not hesitate to go there again.
Our second stay here and we had a lovely time once again. The property has everything we needed and the location is perfect for what we were looking for - plenty of walks, short drive to the beach.
