Outstanding house set in spectacular countryside. Very well equipped.
This is a great house which is well equipped for a large family group. The grounds are excellent for family games and dogs. The location is great for exploring the moors with lots of places to walk from the door. Would highly recommend for a big family group.
This was the perfect (almost) holiday home from home, accommodating four families from around the world over Christmas week. Lots of nearby attractions such as The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (Santa Express) and Whitby. Cooking Christmas dinner was a challenge and we thought only one fan assisted oven was not really adequate, as the second oven (not fan assisted) wasn't really up to to job of cooking Christmas dinner for 12. Two fan ovens are required for this task, although I appreciate this is not the norm. Some of the mattresses need to be upgraded/replaced but overall the property was exceptional and all the families thought it was the best holiday home they had ever stayed in. (they have high standards!) Great en-suites and masses of hot water. The property was warm throughout through a sophisticated control system and the EV worked well. Definitely 5 stars
It provided everything we needed and the lay out was perfect for our group.
A beautiful house in fabulous countryside. Very well equipped with everything a large group would need. I would stay again.
Thank you for your lovely review, we are so glad that you have enjoyed your stay at The Old Vicarage. We look forward to possibly welcoming you back in the future.
Great place for a large family get together, but plan your shopping as Pickering is the nearest suitable shopping centre. Shame the weather meant our enjoyment of the beautiful garden and surrounding valley were curtailed but the family were able to spread around indoors and there were plenty of toys, games and books to keep the children happy.
Truly comfortable accommodation. Well facilitated for internal or external catering. Short walk into the village for pub or tea houses. Great spot as a base for other explorations, whether local walking or trips to the North York Moors Railway from Pickering or the more distant Grassington if you love the new "All Creatures Great and Small" ! Plenty of room for everyone with Tvs in the larger and more snug lounges saving arguments on which program to watch ! And any electric car owners, there is an on site dedicated charging facility for an additional fixed cost taking away the need to locate public charging points. Top notch. Truly beautiful spot. What can I say, everyone loved it !
Amazing house for our large family weekend celebrating a 90th birthday. Family aged 4 to 90 plus two dogs and everyone loved the house. Comfortable bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and room for everyone. We particularly loved the orangery and the gardens, which had plenty of space for children and dogs to burn off energy. The dining room, with its huge table, was great for our celebration meal and the snug was useful as a small break out space for those who wanted to watch various sporting events. Our only tiny disappointment was we couldn’t get the open fire to light in the sitting room, as the logs were just too big. We had an expert firelighter with us, but even she couldn’t get it going. The kitchen was really well equipped, with loads of crockery and cutlery. The entire cupboard full of mugs (all matching!) and another full of glasses was typical of the thought that had gone into just how much you need for this many people. The two dishwashers were also appreciated. We had a caterer on Saturday night (Simply Delicious from Kirkbymoorside - also highly recommended) and they were impressed by the kitchen and how well equipped it was. Brilliant house in a lovely setting - highly recommended.
Could not fault the accommodation! Excellent. Enhanced by the location. Please let James and Jacquie know how wonderful their house is.
We had a wonderful weekend, celebrating our Golden Wedding with family and friends. The Vicarage was the perfect venue, set in the spectacular Yorkshire moors. Everything about it was wonderful, from the well stocked kitchen to the spacious accommodation. There was space for quiet time and space for party time. We have recommended it to friends already. Would definitely book again ( at the drop of a hat) ❤️
A fabulous and very well equipped property that was a great base for 3 families to celebrate the New Year.
Stunning house and location was greeted with an a lovely hamper full of goodies. We couldn’t have asked more. Definitely would come back.
What a fabulous house! Huge accommodation. All bedrooms are large as are the beds. Four huge social areas (including the kitchen) The kitchen is beyond well stocked with everything you might ever need, apart from the food! We got groceries delivered which would also recommend. This accommodation is very much in the middle of nowhere, with not much around, but there is a pub in the village and to be honest, it’s such great accommodation there’s no real reason to leave!
A large and lovely place - as advertised
We had a wonderful family time celebrating my daughters 30th great house, great life cation and lovely village to explore - definitely recommend
Well, maybe I’ve led a sheltered life, but I can honestly say this is the most wonderful house I’ve ever stayed in, in this country. The photographs don’t do it justice, and there are hardly any of the garden, which we thought was so large it should have been described as a park! When we arrived we met the owners’ son and his friend, who couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. There was a massive hamper, the house was spotlessly clean, and the grass had just been cut. The beds were super comfortable, the bathrooms so plentiful that everyone had their own, and the kitchen was so large we congregated there when we weren’t in the Orangery or the garden. Most of the time us adults barbecued and chilled whilst the children (varying in ages from 6 to 13) played hide and seek endlessly or had water fights in the park - sorry, garden. A truly idyllic house in the incredibly beautiful setting of Rosedale Abbey. If I could afford it I would rent it several times a year . . .
A beautifully renovated, accommodating house. Well prepared for us with a very generous hamper. A nice garden and a small, interesting village to explore.
Lovely old vicarage in beautiful setting. Very well equipped. No complaints.
Amazing place to have a special family holiday. Very well equipped, and very welcoming. Plenty of room to spread. A beautiful part of the country.
Wonderful house and location. Spotlessly clean and with everything one could need with one exception. The master bedroom had no dressing table/shelves for makeup, etc. and no socket for a hair drier anywhere near a mirror. A couple of the other bedrooms were similar.
